IUCAA Director’s Welcome Message for National Science Day 2026
We welcome everyone to Explore, Learn & Enjoy with us from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. There will be some special programmes beyond these times in the Chandrasekhar Auditorium and SPPU Grounds. Details are included in the attached schedule files.
In 2026, aligned with the National theme of “Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat”, audiences will have chances to hear several women astronomers narrate highlights of their research and inspiring life throughout the day.
This year, the regular presence of Prof. Jayant V. Narlikar will be missed. There will be a display about his Scientific and Public literature, as well as memories of him and Prof. Naresh Dadhich, who we also lost last year. The Ask a Scientist session will be conducted and continue as usual.
Other exciting sessions featuring Aeromodelling, Live solar viewers, AstroSAT, LIGO-India & other Megaprojects etc. will be arranged along with some special models for the Visually impaired to experience Geography and Astronomy.
We will also host a special session about the NASA-ISRO and educational visits programme by Zilla Parishad, Pune and IUCAA, in which the students will describe their experiences and learnings.
