Weekly visits to the Campus : Saturdays from 11am to 12pm.
People are welcome to visit IUCAA, but only with prior arrangement. Since IUCAA is a place of research, we would give preference to study oriented trips rather than sightseeing. It is very convenient for us if you can arrange to come in a small group. Groups of School/College students (40-50 incl. teachers) may also inform us of any planned visits. No fees are charged for the visit and we expect the external organisers should also not do so using our name.
Public visits to the main campus are conducted only on Saturdays at 11am (other than on the National Science Day). This includes an introduction to IUCAA, a visit inside the main campus, a look at the salient areas, description of astronomy through related exhibits. We also try to fit in a small Q&A / career session at the end of the visit.
Visits to IUCAA are arranged by prior appointment only.

Once invited, please find your way to the IUCAA Main Gate (instructions below) on the specified date and time. Please bring along the letter (if any) given to you. You may request the security guards to inform us of your arrival. We will recieve you and culminate the visit as per arrangements.

How to reach IUCAA

IUCAA is located within the University of Pune campus. There are other universities in the city, so make sure your destination is correct. It is wise to keep half an hour in hand before leaving to reach in time for appointments.
However IUCAA is well known in Pune and many autorickshaw drivers will get you here properly. In any case, you should try to reach the Pune University Main Gate. From there (if you take the right side of the Y-fork) it is at a distance of 2 Kms. Henceforth, the campus is strewn with pointers to IUCAA. Follow the dark path on the map to get to us.
If you are arriving by Train, the best way to get to IUCAA would be to hire a pre-paid auto-rickshaw at the booth situated close to the Pune Railway Station exit. The fare [ which is calculated by multiplying the meter reading by 9 and adding 2 to the total ] is around Rs. 85/- and the ride (approx. 10 km) shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes.
If you are arriving in Pune by Aeroplane, again the best way to get to IUCAA would be to hire a pre-paid auto-rickshaw/taxi at the booth situated close to the airport exit.
